Token
A token is a digital asset issued on top of an existing blockchain (typically Ethereum), as opposed to a coin that runs on its own native blockchain (Bitcoin, Ether). Tokens follow standards like ERC-20 (fungible) or ERC-721 (NFTs) and inherit the security and tooling of the underlying network.
Most altcoins are technically tokens. Stablecoins like USDC and USDT are tokens. Governance tokens for DeFi protocols are tokens. The classification matters for technical and regulatory reasons.
Why it matters for Milo customers
Milo's collateral list is intentionally narrow: Bitcoin (native coin) and Ethereum (native coin). Tokens, including stablecoins and governance tokens, are not accepted as collateral. USDC is accepted for select transactions but treated separately from collateral pledging.
