Cold Wallet
A cold wallet stores crypto private keys offline, typically on a hardware device like a Ledger or Trezor, or even a paper backup. Because the keys never touch an internet-connected machine, they can't be stolen by malware or remote attackers.
Cold wallets are the preferred storage method for long-term crypto holdings. The trade-off is convenience: sending funds requires physically connecting the device and signing transactions.
Why it matters for Milo customers
Milo's qualified custodians (Coinbase and BitGo) hold pledged crypto collateral in cold storage by default. This eliminates the hot-wallet attack surface that's drained centralized exchanges in past hacks.
